More KMQ-compatible software

GQView3D is a stereo image viewer for Linux and also supports the KMQ-type over/under layout.

advanced Kit2 layout

with the new openKit2 laser cutting files, version 0.9, we now need two different plastic sheets.
Most parts are still cut from 1mm PET sheets, one is cut from 2mm Acrylics to be more ridgid for Wiimote use.

Ready for NAB

According to NAB reporters, Avid is working on a stereo workflow with over/under layout.
See details here: IT Broadcast and Digital Cinema/3D
For now I could not figure out, if it uses KMQ compatible RightEye on top layout or not.

the second software package to be listed

Karl Lilje extended his great stereoscopic paint program stereoPAINT-ESP with basic KMQ support.

Note: this cool app has some of its user interface in the stereo area !!!
I hope that other developers do so as well.

Online - at last

Finally the projects page for overview, download and list of intl. providers (currently it's just me) is online. It took long because it's part of my own website that was based on MS-FrontPage (designed 10 years ago) and my ISP recently kicked out the CGI-EXEs needed for its webbots.
So I had to port several functions to python.
With IE6 it looks still odd.

After laser cutting 6 prototypes, early adopters received first openKMQkit2 samples

Version 0.6 of the open hardware add-on to the long prooved prism stereo viewing device from KMQ was realeased.

This marks the begin of the first of (planned) three project phases :
  • providing a free basic hardware design
  • adding fixed distant stereo viewing to as many open source and commercial 3D apps.
  • merging the superior technologies of KMQ and WiiRemote by implementing headtracking true stereo AppGUIs and a Combiz desktop interface.
Samples have been sent to early adopters who want to extend their applications with high quality / low budget Stereo3D viewing.

Enthuisiasts are invited to spread the news, do coding and enhance/manufacture/sell the hardware designs.

Find more at (sorry - to be online end of this week).
